[Poetry] Outgrown

Like shoes that pinch my toes
And socks stretched so thin
They tear into holes,

Like jeans that will not rise
No matter how much I shimmy
Them over my thighs,

Like a sweater squeezing too tight
Because it is ages since
It last fit right,

Like clothes, well-worn and loved,
I have outgrown this life in search
For one bigger to be part of.

  1. Wise words from the best friend that inspired this beautiful piece, Jade! I think we’re all tiring of hiding our authentic selves to please others or keep the status quo…it’s time to break free.

    • Thank you! It’s always good to surround yourself with those wiser than yourself πŸ™‚ I agree that I think we’re all tired indeed of hiding our authentic selves, but I hope we all discover the courage to live authentically. I hope you are well, Kim!

    • Definitely not alone! We are all similar in our struggle to figure out who we are and how to live our lives authentically to us, and we are all affected by what the world tells us. I hope you will find a life that fits you better too, my friend! Thank you for being here πŸ™‚
