The leaves are on fire,
The wind tastes like ashes,
The oceans are drying
Into trenches and gashes,
Slashed across the surface
Of a dull, blunt stone
That used to be beautiful
But now, it dies alone.
I stand here on the edge
Of this beautiful dying world,
Where love that once flourished
Is now set aflame,
And I am just a girl
Watching innocence burn
At the end of the world
Waiting for you to return.

Ooh, I like how this could either be about a breakup or global warming. Such double entendre.
Great eye for spotting that double entendre. And thank you for reading 🙂
