[Poetry] The Leaves Are On Fire

The leaves are on fire,
The wind tastes like ashes,
The oceans are drying
Into trenches and gashes,
Slashed across the surface
Of a dull, blunt stone
That used to be beautiful
But now, it dies alone.

I stand here on the edge
Of this beautiful dying world,
Where love that once flourished
Is now set aflame,
And I am just a girl
Watching innocence burn
At the end of the world
Waiting for you to return.

  1. OH MY HEART! T_T The details. The build-up. The ending. Felt every word, dearie.

These lines tear my heart open:
“I stand here on the edge
    Of this beautiful dying world,”
