Remember not to compare yourself to strangers on the internet.
Remember not to let the numbers—of likes, of followers, of zeros on a check—make you feel like you are less than, because you are not. You are enough.
Remember your dreams are valid.
Remember to start. There is no market for a writer that doesn’t write, but there are infinite possibilities for a first draft and a first step.
Remember to take care of yourself, to love yourself, and to be your own greatest fan.
Remember your work has already made a difference if it saved you, because your life is just as important as that of your imaginary audience.
Remember you are alive. How beautiful, miraculous, and extraordinary it is…to be you and alive.
Revised and rewritten. Not quite a poem…but a series of reminders I need from time to time and sharing for anyone else who may need them too.
There’s nothing like a dose of motivation during the day. Thanks for supplying me with mine Jade.
Great post! I am 31 now maybe like Alan at 40 I will make it big or remember Morgan Freeman he was older and what a career he has. Right now writing, managing Bipolar and Diabetes are three things I focus on. I am working on Diabetes and I should be able to start turning around big time in 3 months and then 6 months. These illnesses are tough you can’t turn them around over night and there are no cures just hopes you get them closer to stability which I usually end up doing.
Exactly! It’s never too early or too late to make something happen, and as long as we have time, we can do anything 🙂 I wish you luck on your personal fight and future endeavors! I hope you do indeed turn around your diabetes in 6 months time, and never stop writing.
One thing for sure I won’t stop writing. I’ll be writing into my 90’s. My passion is so strong. Diabetes is not easy but so far a couple months in I am doing great. I do the best I can and that is all we can do.
Doing the best we can is all any of us can do, and the way I see it, you’ve already got a head start because you know what your passion is while so many are still searching. So you keep up the good work! 🙂
Thanks I will keep up the good work. I love what I do and to me what I do isn’t work it’s just fun. But it is a lot of hard work I put in.

This re-post is from a wonderful blog I follow. Jade always nails it on the head. Enjoy and keep hoping. ~lisa
I left it comment here before but I guess it’s disappeared (WordPress might be at it again).
I love the quotes you shared, we all could use with a bit of motivation especially during the day so thank you for that. 🙂
It seems that WordPress registered your comments as spam (not sure why, I will have to check the settings!) but both comments are here now 🙂
I’m glad you liked the quotes and I agree, we all could use some motivation and positivity. I figured I wasn’t the only one who needs these reminders every now and then. Glad you stopped by Ameena 🙂
Hehe, it’s been doing that to my comments lately. It was a pleasure to read the quotes.
I read this just when I needed it. Thank you!
You’re very welcome! I figure I’m not the only one who needs these reminders from time to time.
Really lovely post and beautiful quote.
I love the power in your simple words, Jade. I have doubted myself, too, and time and time again, envy sinks in me, envy for people who do better than me. But you are right, it isn’t the end yet. I guess my key word here is contentment. 🙂
You’re not alone. I know I’ve doubted myself countless times and there have also been times when I wanted to walk away because there were so many people who were just better. But we just have to remember that they’re living their lives and we’re living ours. Everybody starts somewhere 🙂
That is true. And we are unique, thus, God has prepared different paths for us. We just have to keep the faith. 🙂
Nice reminder. Grateful. ❤️
Such a great post, thank you so much for this!

Wonderful post, Jade! I love that, H.O.P.E. means hold on, pain ends. 🙂 Awesome!
Thanks PJ! I loved that acronym too. Stumbled on it while scouring the internet for something completely different. I think it’s from a song, but not sure. Anyway, I like it and I’m glad you do too ^_^
I sure did, Jade! Your story is great!
what a great way to start the new year. thank you for reminding me.
I’m glad you liked it. I agree, it’s a good way to start the new year 🙂 Thank you for reading and commenting!
[…] new week starts and a new day begins. I couldn’t be happier to read Jade’s Reminders on a beautiful Monday morning. Just the very thing I needed to to start my day. Thank you! 🙂 🙂 […]
OH, just what I needed to start a brand new day! Thank you for sharing them Jade! Good morning! 😀 😀
Oh this is just so uplifting, Jade! 🙂
Thank you 🙂 A few reminders never hurt, I think.
Yes. True. 😀
Thanks for this. 🙂
Great advice especially the ‘magic cure’ advice. I think that there are far to many people promising quick fixes and miracle cures. Everything worth having takes a little patience and hard work.
Great post.
Thanks Sharon! I’m glad you liked it. I absolutely agree with you about the magic cure. A little reminder does wonders 🙂
True 🙂
I believe I have read this before but I read it again. Thank you for the reminders, Jade. I badly needed them now. <3
Yes, it’s an old post, but sometimes it’s nice to share the reminders again 🙂 Thanks for reading Rosema!
I agree. You never know who needed them. Likewise you don’t know I need them. 🙂
Courageous and inspiring. That first step is often the hardest, but once taken…
Agreed, thank you for taking the time to read and comment 🙂

[…] Dear Jade of Jade M. Wong […]
I needed to read this. I’m not living off unemployment but I am having to decide whether to buy groceries or pay for ads to market my book. It’s a tough decision: fill my belly or finance my dreams.
Belly! Definitely belly! If you go hungry, you won’t be around to see your dreams come to fruition. Taking care of yourself always comes first!
I’m glad this post could help. It helped me a lot as I was writing. These are all reminders I needed to tell myself and I figured, if I needed, chances are others do as well. Please never give up and take it a day at a time, Melinda <3
Thank you! I am taking things a day at a time. Sometimes we all need a reminder though to stop and reassess. I do so much but it’s not until I stop and look back that I see how much I have done.
So inspirational 🙂 I guess sometimes we question ourselves too much… thanks!
Thank you! I’m glad you found this inspirational 🙂 And yes, I think we need to trust ourselves and our journeys a little more.
