The love is for all those whose hearts
Are tough from being torn apart
By heartbreak’s touch, by betrayal’s agony,
And are too scared to once again start.
The strength is for all those whose nights
Are full of terrors and invisible frights,
Who spend their days enduring silently
To stay alive in an endless fight.
And if pain is all they’ve ever known,
If they have no hope to call their own,
Then for them, I imbue these words with bravery
To hold on, for they are not alone.

I have moments where I think it would be easier to stop trying to “make writing happen” and focus on a more practical path, but then I remember all the times a poem, a book, a revisit to Hogwarts, comforted me and provided a light for me when my nights were long and particularly dark.
If there is one person out there who can find the same comfort in my words that I found in others, then I won’t stop writing. And if that one person is just me, then that’s enough.
But if there is someone else out there who needs some love, strength, and bravery tonight, then I’m glad to share mine with you.
