[Poetry] After The Winter

I do not fear the chill of Winter,
Not its fingers blue and cold
Nor my breath frozen in their hold.

I do not fear the dark of Winter,
Not its suffocating shadow
Nor the voices whispering just below.

No, what I fear is what comes after,
The promise of hope and all it brings
When Winter fades away to Spring.

For I know how hope can devastate,
I know the harm that hope can deal,
How its agony is hard to heal.

There is a cruel comfort to living in pain,
So, I do not fear the brutal Winter,
I fear only what comes after.
