In the dark, I followed the stars,
Twinkling steadily and kindly,
Lighting the path to a place so far,
To a place waiting patiently for me.
Twinkling steadily and kindly,
The stars guide me as I make my way
To a place waiting patiently for me,
I know I am meant to arrive one day.
The stars guide me as I make my way,
Though I may stumble from time to time,
I know I am meant to arrive one day,
This journey and its obstacles are solely mine.
Though I may stumble from time to time,
I will never give up hope.
This journey and its obstacles are solely mine,
The stars will guide me home.

My very first pantoum! A poetry form that originated in Malaysia, this pantoum was challenging to write, but I hope I did it right.
Reposted from a dverse prompt.
no not late at all! the prompt is open a month long so poets can perfect the form. this was wonderful Jade, your pantoum sang back and forth and came full circle, your first and last line though not identical echo the same meaning perfectly, well done, the rhymes are gentle and soft like waves lapping at the heart. i also love the journey of life you write about, you own it and make it worthy. love it! more please!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed my first try at a pantoum, Gina! I’ll admit, this was a struggle. I wasn’t familiar with this form at all, but I welcomed the challenge. Glad it worked out okay ^_^
it worked better than well you aced it at first attempt, well done
This was wonderful. Love how you ended this piece, too.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed ^_^
I’ve never heard of a pantoum before! Lovely work.
Neither had I before this. It’s an interesting poetry form. The link I included in the post will tell you more about it if you’re interested and let me know if you decide to take a knack at it—I’d definitely read your work!
Cool! I’ll definitely consider it – I try different prompts every week right now.
Beautifully written. Love the rhythm and the rhyme.
Thank you so much Sadje!
My pleasure 😇

Reblogged this on LIVING THE DREAM.
I love the last stanza, it encourages ownership of the journey that is ours alone. Great job!
Thank you, Astrid! And yes, that’s exactly what I wanted to do — let people know that we all have our own journey and our own time.
” This journey and its obstacles are solely mine.” I like how it says “and it’s obstacles” Empowering!

Reblogged this on The Reluctant Poet.
ahhhh. this felt like a rhythmic dance of self-discovery, tinged with doubt, and fear, but at the end nothing succeeds but bravery! <3

This is a reflective poem, Jade. When we’re lost or finding our way, we always look for guidance. The stars are so beautifuly yet so mysterious above us – infinite stars above, infinite possibilities.
Yes, there is so much inspiration and guidance to be found in the stars and in the nature around us, infinite possibilities indeed. Thank you for reading and leaving such an insightful comment.
